Hydranga with identity crisis!

How strange... its to do with the soil isnt it?.... maybe all the winter rain changed something in the soil lol...

I'm beginning to expect anything unusual and impossible from you Gee Lol ...

I didn't do anything, Amy, honestly! I wondered if it was anything to do with the way the sun hits it - maybe bleaching the blue out a bit on one side or, as Holly says, perhaps it is the soil - I do tend to throw washing up water there :)

Never knowingly thrown a baby out, Amy, but I must admit the odd teaspoon or fork has shot across the garden occasionally and had to be retrieved :)

mum had a hydrangea that was blue on one side: she said it was because there were nails in the ground, and that iron always made the blossoms turn blue.

Could that be anything to do with it? though surely it'd be constant, not there one year and not there the next.

or maybe some cross-pollination from blue and-or pink plants?

It has to be all the rain fall that we have had Gee, acid rain and all! Mine was like yours two years ago, all shades of blue and pink but this year it is very very pink! No explanation.
