I didn't realise these plants would grow so large, over 5' tall now, turning my garden into a jungle :)

No manure, Amy, but I wonder if it's because only grass grew there before. I grew these from seed so I am really amazed at the size of them :)

They're stunning and I bet the scent of an evening is fantastic Gee!

They do smell good, Janey and the bees love them too. Thanks, Hywel, rather a wet jungle this morning :)

Good grief, these are fantastic!

We had torrential rain late yesterday afternoon and some more during the night, Hywel. Dry day today but much cooler than the last few days.

I can't remember when we had rain here. We did have a few drops one night recently, but that's all. It didn't even wet the soil. It's very unusual ...
I hope you find the cooler temperatures more comfortable.

when I lived on the 7th floor, i bought some nicotina plants from the local Columbia Road flower market; the bloke said they were very scented. did'nt get a peep or a sniff out of them! as they wer in a window box, they'd never have got this big anyway. Will they survive been cut back, or will they have to be taken out altogether?

I know the feeling Gee when a plant gets much bigger than we ever thought it would. My Kniphofia Caulescens is much more muscular than I thought possible and I have 2 more to go in the same patch! You are so right Hywel, now the temperature is down to a normal summer, it is so much easier to garden without having to go indoors to cool down.

The heavy rain and winds had flattened them, Dorjac, so I have cut them back. The garden looks a bit bare but quite tidy :)
