Clematis viticella Kermesina...

Oh dear DD why do you say worse for wear? I think mine fit that description... I had four different varieties growing over an arch in the front garden, but I think I may have lost them... Have no idea why... :o(

I love this colour on that painted trellis. It's a great match, and the Clem looks healthy to me too!

It had got very neglected trying to grow up behind a large shrub, so it was very scruffy when I found the poor thing......Petal was it Clematis wilt? that can kill them off to the ground, but invariably they shoot up again....
Well thanks K good of you to say, hopefully next year I will give it the attention it deserves....

My viticellas have all failed to get going at all. They are 1or 2 feet tall, and looking very sad. I've planted them too close to their hosts I fear. The dry summer didn't help one bit. I'm pretty fed up with clems now tbh. I've totally got over my obsession with them. Sadly it's Heucheras now...but they have a longer season of interest!

Oh dear K you sound just like me!! It started with Hardy Geraniums....then Violas... Sempers..Hostas.. Clematis....Heucheras..grasses..Thyme..Lonicera.. and now it bulbs!! at least they are small??.
