Polytunel holding up so far

Phew! :) this picture has prompted me to buy a book on greenhouse gardening. I would like my greenhouse to be fuller in the winter too! :)

I bring in all my stock of small succulents into the side beds Karen....the middle one is left empty till seed time...first ones are in...soo excited for spring..:-)

Sandra, I've also ordered my first electric Propagator for getting my seeds going early! So excited, I have l-o-a-d-s of seeds to grow this year! :))

Glad everything is still standing after the winds and rain. The plants look good and healthy. It's going to be a week of fluctuating temperatures and weather.

Oh my! 93.4 mph winds would probably blow my house down! We're not used that kind of strong winds. San Diego most likely has never experienced winds that strong since the hurricane of 1858.

70 to 80 mph tonight....hold on tight!!!!

That's amazing! You're having stormy, windy weather and we're having nice calm, warm almost 80ºF (27ºC) weather today in San Diego. What a difference the weather is like on the other side of the world. :>)

It is very often wildly different from hour to hour here Delonix. In one hour yesterday we went from calm to stormy...bright sunshine to very black clouds...we had rain , sleet, snow and hail...and back to sunshine. The spring time is always welcome but I do love the wild winter weather. Tonight will be close to freezing for me which will bring a bright frosty morning to wake up to.

And nicely done tunnel Sandra. Not a wrinkle. Or is that panes of plastic? And even then,for that to take 94mph is incredible. I know anything I build would fly away like those jumpy houses on the news.

It sounds like you can go through four seasons in one day. lol! That's very amazing to me! I can't comprehend living in a climate like that.

Even the SF Bay Area doesn't usually get such big storm with those kinds of hurricane-force winds. Only on storm in December of 1995 on the BASI (Bay Area Storm Index) rated a 10. I remember that storm very well...so much extreme damage with winds of up to 105 mph. This is the storm that blew all the windows out at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park (if you remember). Strybing Arboretum experienced extensive damage to historical trees and concrete sidewalks (from the giant falling trees), and was closed for many months.

Our tees suffer too Delonix. Our local woodland lost so many trees last year they are still clearing them. Stan its covered in a huge sheet of plastic that comes on a roll. It is very tight over the top but the one end is starting to show signs of wear. This sheet has been on for 5 years hopefully last another two or three. Its the aerodynamic shape that enables it to stand up to the wind.

I can imagine all the damage to the trees. Even the strongest trees will suffer damage in those kinds of hurricane-force winds. It's amazing that there's any trees standing with so many storms that strong.

I completely forgot about the severe storms that hit San Diego back in the middle of Sept. 2014. It was caused by the outer bands of Hurricane Odile (which devastated southern Baja California, MX). These storms caused a tremendous amount of damage to trees in San Diego. Trees were down for many weeks before they were taken out. The winds were estimated to be about 90 mph in some of the storms at Montgomery Field Air Port because it over turned small planes and moved a jet that usually takes such strong of winds. (this was an extremely unusual event for San Diego).
