A lovely sunny morning in Llangollen this brave Kayaker was the last of several to shoot down the fast flowing river as they disappeared under the bridge everyone crossed over to watch them on the other side - rather like Pooh Sticks really!!

I had to google what "Bara brith" is Bloomer.
Apparently a fruitcake . is it Welsh word? Sorry for my ignorance.

Shame the Kayaker didn't take the right hand fork ... would have been a much smoother ride, I reckon. <];~)

Yes it is,Klahanie..A traditional cake to Wales, and very nice..Most areas of Britain have their specialities ..and it's not ignorance at all,as I often Google lots of things..a blessing at times :o)

Oh my goodness, what a brave soul! When I first saw the photo I didn't see the kayaker, just thought how rough the water was and how close to the buildings. Is it usually like this, Neellan?

Thank you Bloomer Rather them than me too! Llangollen is as lovely as you remember Bara Brith - yummy as ever too :o)
Bara Brith is a Welsh word for Currant Bread it is a very tasty currant loaf Klahanie :o)
The Kayakers are often there "shooting the rapids" Alan the shallower parts have huge rocks so that is the best route for them really believe it or not, you wouldn't catch me kayaking on a mill pond mind you lol :oD
That is how it is year round Gee the buildings are on rock foundations, the kayakers all made it out I'm sure! :o)

We know this strech of River well. OH was born just up the road in the Cottage Hospital to the right of this picture. It's such a shame that they've closed the Hospital... We used to always look up at the window where he and his Mum stayed... :o) I expect people are sent to all the way to Wrexham or Ruthun now?

Hi Tracey there was a fight to save it but to no avail, Maternity and all else to Wrexham Maelor now, Ruthin doesn't have an emergency or Maternity unit, the building in Abbey Road is still there - at the moment!
