Her name is Vino blanko and she is sort of local "celebrity" .
I have a warm vest on. It is cold . Coldest winter since 2000 (our first visit to this region.)

LOL Bjs. The donkey belonged to an eccentric Canadian gentlemen who sat with her at this lakeshore restaurant every day. When he died the owner of this restaurant adopted her. He moved the restaurant to another location and the donkey came with him. She is part of the ambiance and spoiled by everyone.
I wonder if you'd like to adopt some of my deer from Vancouver Island. I am sure I would not miss a few :-) I have to warn you that they eat more then grass...but on another hand I know that Jamie would not let them :-)

Great story. There are deer around but never been troubled by them as yet, problem right now are badgers wherever I plant and create soft ground the badgers uproot the plants looking for worms

Badgers can be troublesome. Can they be trapped and relocated ?

They are a bit like an Indian cow sacred in the UK, much to our farmers disgust they are blamed for spreading TB to the cattle ,there have been some culls in the last year but causes all sorts of conflict with the animal rites groups.

I know what you speak. They need natural predators to control their population..

What a lovely tale about the donkey. When my son was little a very long time ago, I used to take him out on a Saturday to ride the donkey from round the corner. I always had a treat in my pocket in case he refused to go forward, but he was a sweet little thing.
