Acer Palmatum Atropurpeum

I do have couple of these also Pansypotter . They are lovely. I am pleased with them. I killed so many red Japanese maples ...it is not even funny...but this Acer Atropurpeum survived I have them for 2 maybe 3 years.

Do you have yours in ground?

That is fantastic,Carole..I do hope mine looks as good as yours one day..was it a decent size when you bought it?, mine was only very small,when I bought it two years ago..

Lovely, these are fantastic looking, always frustrates me how slow growing the Acers are though.

Hi Klahanie sorry you have lost so many Red Japenese Maples but good news that Acer Atropurpeum is surviving! I must be lucky [so far] as I havent lost any of my Acers , touch wood! I grow all mine in the ground, my borders are very full so perhaphs they are protected by other shrubs;0)

Acers are so colourful at this time of the year. Sadly one of my little trees has died back by half, so Gerry has cut it back to the good wood and I'm hoping it will recover.

It brings a gorgeous splash of colour to your pretty garden Carole ,your eyes are drawn to it :o)

Hi Amy they certainly do light up the borders, although a couple have been knocked back with recent frosty nights;0(
