So, it's the very common scarlet colored one. It looks good.

You do know this plant is a dime a dozen and grown outside everywhere here! LOL! :>)

Dime a dozen here too as I now have two!!!! Grown outside here although as mine are still a bit young I keep them in pots so that I can put them in the shed if it gets Arctic.

Mine is in a large pot too. So large I don't think it would fit in the greenhouse. Being a native of New Zealand it should be able to stand a bit of cold.

Thorneyside - I lost my first one in the winter of 2011/12 in the ground. This winter they stayed out huddled up against a wall and are fine.

Delonix - I grew a few from last years seeds. Dead easy.

Yes, they naturalize pretty easily.

Oh I am envious, mine which is growing outdoors in the garden, is over 6ft, from seed, never flowered yet!

Siris - that seems odd. Is it bushy? Two things spring to mind;

1] Slugs. They love the flower buds no matter how small.

2] Lack of morning sun in the winter. The flowers start to form in the autumn. Although they'll take some frost it could be that they don't get thawed out early enough thus spending too long in a frosted state.

Just some thoughts..................

There's one more possible reason: the plant is not dry enough. They bloom profusely here in very dry San Diego, CA. This plant likes it pretty dry for it too bloom well.

Delonix - I find the buds drop if it dries out. That could be due to our cooler climate though.

I think maybe it's due to cooler weather. They bloom profusely here in the ground in cement-hard soil in blazing hot sun.
