Very unusual plant. I like the stripy purple flower. Did anyone see that a flower very rare and stinks like flesh is out for three days. I think they said somewhere in Scotland but may be wrong.

I have Arisaema triphyllum which are wild flowers... So do Amy and Dawnsaunt. Do the large leaves belong to the Arisaema or an arum?

the leaves are on the Arisaema they are very large the largest don't even show in the picture

Absolutely amazing Brian ,our last port of call of our holiday this last week in Scotland was Edinburgh , shame I didn't know about the stinky flower but then we wouldn't have had time anyway ...

first no they don't stink that's a different type of lily.
Are they hardy well in some gardens they always recommend planting deep at least eight inches down.
have tried them outside but don't seem to like my garden they do less than well.
Would be worth a try in your woodland, there are some that are around three feet in height altogether more robust but possibly not as colourful as the smaller ones a lot of greens in them. quite a few of them start growing very late around June. there is a tendency to chop them up digging thinking they are dead. when happy they increase with new corms quite rapidly.
