WR it should do well where you live, we have been growing it for over 30 years!! but never did well in the Midlands, although we were to blame, we should have split it in the spring, we are trying for the national collection, but we lost Nicholas, it was a poor plant, there are some lovely varieties, All Gold is a beauty too!
Thanks Michaella it does make a statement.

Is it tender DD? You dont miss the Midlands, do you. Do you have any reason to come back to visit family, I know you weren't far from me.

Not really tender Dawn, it grows much better here and bulks up quickly.... Dawn we have a daughter in Malvern, which is handy for the show lol and no I don't miss the Midlands.

Is yours in a pot or in the ground, Angela? I had one in a gravel bed in more or less full sun, but it has hardly grown this year :( However the three 'ordinary' green Hakons in pots are perfectly happy.

All of ours are in the ground, in gravel, we took them out of the pots....because they were not doing at all well!! they are in semi-shade Sheila, they can take a couple of seasons to bulk up!

Thanks Dotty, they're definitely worth another try!

Its lovely. Mine is great this year too. But I've lost one as well. Funny...the one thats thriving is in heavy clay.
