Sanseveria looks good against a wall, also. It's widely used that way here. I have mine planted against a wall in my front yard.

Its marginal here. I dig the lava rock planters.
I miss my old pickup. I used to buy a yard of gravel,compost or big lava boulders. Now? With a car that gets high gas mileage that does me no good when I need a load of manure.

I've seen nice specimens of Sansevieria growing in the Bay Area. It's a hardy plant. It even grows in Central Valley (in semi-shade, of course).
