I got the bulbs for this in September, and here it is starting to flower. This used to be Scilla g., but it was moved to Fessia. Not very tall - about 6".

It is pretty. I thought it was a bluebell. Very similar indeed. I love Scilla/Fessia but I wish 'they' would stop changing the names of things!

Thanks! This is a member of the Hyacinthaceae family, and kind of looks like a hyacinth, but with more prostrate leaves. The confusion all the name changing causes is annoying when I am trying to figure out if I can grow something.

Yes, indeed! What we call bluebells in the UK are hyacinthoides non-scripta Wylie, and they look very like this plant of yours....apologies if you already knew that...I don't know if you are originally from the UK....but we are very possessive of our bluebells in the UK as they carpet our woodlands in a gorgeous blue during May and are quite a spectacle....unique to our country apparently. There is an invasive spanish variety that threatens our Bluebell woodlands, so we are even more protective of them than before.

I had Scilla peruviana for years. Slugs might have got to it.

The Scilla peruviana is native to the Western Med, but bulbs have made it over here, and I have several patches of it. The snails don't bother it as long as the bulbs aren't exposed. I grow mostly winter growing bulbs, the ones I don't need to water during the summer. The first gladiolus will be flowering soon. In the woods that I have, I am slowly increasing the number of bromiliads and letting the tree ferns go wild.

I bought some too in September but only managed to plant them a month ago....mine are Squills? Such a vibrant blue.... Should see them March April time.

Agh..mine are different Wylie, Siberian squills.

Pretty blue. Name changing such a pain. 'You can't teach an old dog a new trick'

Siberian Squill (Scilla siberica) is in the same Hyacinthaceae family, but there are plans to move it to a group called Othocallis. With DNA sequencing, the taxonomists are the ones trying to confuse everyone.

Very pretty :-)
Well I'm certainly confused lol ;-)

What is worse are the local names for plants. I have a friend who works as a gardener and he keeps coming to me to try a figure out what something is, so he can buy it on-line.
Oh yeah, 4 seeds have germinated already, so my daylily season is underway!
