Think it must have been 2010 and maybe a dusting 2012, but not that much. Hope we don't get any now the plants have been fooled into early growth. My newly planted Allium schubertii have about 4" green growth.

That winter killed two thirds of my bottlebrush shrub. You'd never know it now - it's as big as ever.

2010 was the very worst year for us when we lived at Willow Cottage ! We were snowed in for a full month with snow past our knees! Another good reason to have moved !

Rose that must have been some snowfall....Andrew you were lucky, it killed ours off, and it was a beauty! Janey they do say the Cordys can come back, hoping ours will be ok....
Olive you are correct, my brother had some very low temps in Nottingham, and lost several shrubs....
Paul it was in December, which as you says most unusual, took us all by surprise........even the isle of Wight had losses...

DD - it was an established shrub, 15 years old by then. I lost a youngster though.

I remember 2 spells of unusually heavy snow here in Essex , in November and December 2010. Very unusual for us to get any snow or even sleet before Jan/Feb.
