Abutilon megapotamicum varigatum (Abutilon megapotamicum (Trailing abutilon) variegata)

My Variegated Abutilon, which I purchased last year is starting to flower, picture taken on 16th Feb, despite being quoted as flowering in May, and having suffered several frosts. It is called a trailing Abutilon, but I am tying the shoots up the SE fence.

This has been growing in our garden for over 20 years, we bought it with us when we moved, sadly it is no more a fencing casualty!! it was too difficult to move, oh well, space for something else!!

Oh, that is a shame Dd, I lost my original, which was against the top fence, too dry I think. That was some 20 years ago. There is now a dribble hose along the concrete base of this fence.

Sound thinking.......

But it has to be connected to work, not that it needs it at the moment.

No, we have had two lovely sunny days, but also frosty mornings, and it looks like another tomorrow!! at least it's dry!

I am hoping my Iris borders dry out soon, I have suffered some casualties, probably my newest.

Mine has buds on it , its hardly stopped flowering all this year and still has green leaves ,shows how mild the winter are becoming previous years the frost has stripped it right back leaving me to think its killed it ,They are tougher than they look they do recover , I put a good thick layer of mulch as the base before the winter sets in ...

Amy, I put dried leaves around the base of this and also all my Alstroemerias with a piece of glass over the Alstros.

Aren't many dry leaves around now, the exposed ones are turning to leaf mould.

Hi Siris... that's very eye-catching.

Prettier when the flowers are completely open, red with a yellow centre like a lantern.
