Me too Thorney I never use slug pellets but this year I am too , dahlias pft I went out and on one all that was left were the stalks with flowers on top !, now mullein moth caterpillars are chomping my verbascum lily beetles eating my lilies and gall midge attacking my daylilies I might cry lol.
After all that moaning I didn't know there were good slugs either .

Girls read Greenfingers Blog all about the leopard slug ,the good guy ! I didn't know about it either .. Kathy I have had so many lovely surprises from the wonderful seeds you sent me last year Thanks so much ,Verbascums galore I've given some plants away at our horticultural club ! yesterday I re-potted the Chinese Foxgloves Do you take them in for the winter or risk leaving them out ?

I would say that's a baddie, Amy, - the Yellow slug (altho I think its more olive green). It can cause major damage. Has it got blue tentacles?

I thought so to Mari , I didn't see its tentacles his head was buried there was no way I was going to drag it out to look , I'll go back with a trowel !

I'll have a look Amy , there are a few like this in my darlek compost bin don't mind them in there.
Glad the seeds did well for you:-), weird I just came on to ask about some you sent me ,evening primrose now did it say pale yellow fades to pink on the packet ?l, anyway I've pricked out 40!! why so many lol, can't remember how tall they get?
I have some lovely plants grown from your seed too and the pretty blue clematis you sent looks gorgeous at the moment :-)
The Chinese foxglove isn't supposed to be bone hardy but they've been in my garden for two winters now and come back , in fact they're just about to flower, mind you mild winters I suppose , I'd maybe keep a few in the greenhouse over this winter just in case then after they've flowered next year you can collect seed :-)

I've been thinking of you Amy and Kathy as I've been planting out plants from your seed, so exciting, Chinese foxgloves out but I do have one pot inside so I will keep that, as ever I lose labels so lots of surprises, might have to come back to you guys for IDs.

Its nice to have surprises isn't it , I didn't like my surprise yesterday see my blog.
Mari I'm sorry I can't see the tentacles of the slug the water has washes it away :o(

I wasn't aware there were any good slugs Amy, not where I live anyway. For years I've put eggshells around my Hostas and they've looked good till August, give or take. It's only June and they're already devastating them, there are so many this year that I've resorted to slug pellets and I don't even want to talk about my Dahlias.
