Klahanie, why salmon? Is it a good fish for bbcue?

Excellent for BBQ Katarina. You soak a cedar plank in water for an hour and put the fish on it. The plank will be smoking and will give the fish a unique taste. That is a preferred way here in Pacific Northwest way of eating salmon.

Hm, since I worked for Greenpeace, I have to dissapoint you. Salmon - even Canadian - is heavily contaminated with heavy metals and pesticides. Contamination depends on fish habits and what depths do they prefer. Roughly said, due to the level in which they live, the safest (related to pregnat women diet) are macreles.

Diet for pregnant woman - measure of heavy metals contamination.

Greenpeace is obviously not talking about Sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka), also called red salmon, kokanee salmon, or blueback salmon, species of salmon found in the Northern Pacific Ocean and rivers discharging into it. Our rivers in NW Canada, Yukon and Alaska are pristine clear.
Greenpeace is not an organization I admire so I am not disappointed.
Just my opinion Katarina yours may differ.

Itś not only Greenpeace which observed different contamination, you can find a lot of data on it on internet. There is no fish which can be isolated from contamination and crystal clear water doesn t mean anything, it can be also radioactive.
I hope I didn´t touch you with that comment, what you take from this information is your decision, of course.
