Canna City of Portland....

saw a row of Cannas in a border on the roadside as I was driving around the other day every one the same colour and they were absolutely stunning :O) love them but think I would fail miserably with them. But I love them so much think it is the striking colours that get to me. I do so love rich colours. :O)

Yes I was really pleased to find this one, wish I had bought some more now....

Beautiful colour DD. I used to grow them in pots and they did very well. Haven't got the space here.

A beautiful plant, DD! I can't remember having seen any around here this year - other years you can always find them in people's gardens.

I grew a couple of plants many years ago when we lived in Spain. I was well pleased with the flowers but unfortunately I wasn't able to keep the tubers during the winter.

Balcony many Canna's were wiped out because of a virus, so many people would not buy them any more!!

Yes they are just starting to introduce new virus free plants.....it was a disaster you were advised not to buy in GCs etc.

Just yesterday I saw my first Canna of the year - not more than a few minutes walk away from my flat but in a direction I don't often go in.

Sadly the the Canna viruses are still rampant (there is more than one). I wouldn't buy from anywhere other than a trusted source that grow their own stock from scratch. Hart Canna is one that I would safely recommend.
Personally I only grow from seed or accept plants from trusted collectors (and even then I grow them on in isolation at work for a year just to make sure).

I had my Russian Giant from Hart Canna.....at one of their plant fairs....
