Sadly it never seems to seed, will have to split it up when its finished flowering.

yes I found that out last year, thanks Karen, and its always the very pretty ones isn't it! still scared about chopping into it in case it disappears, and still plucking up courage to cut into my hostas too. lol watch this space lol.

The Hostas are bullet proof. Have no fear on that score. I've never split a Hellebore though. Good luck with that!

Hosta, no fear. Practice on those. Helly, careful...One of my favs, but does not like me!

I split my hellebores autumn before last, it did them the world of good. It is a tough job though, I had to use a serrated bread knife to saw through the roots. You just need to make sure you leave 3-4 growth eyes on each clump. Best time is September or October.
