Fantastic flower Bjs. I had to google it to find out more. Is it usual for tree paeonia seedlings to grow flowers this big or would you expect them to grow bigger as the tree ages. Everything about it looks so perfect from its whiter than white petals and pink feathers to the golden crown in the centre. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Shirley I don't ever remember feeding it ,has been in that position about ten years soil is heavy clay and becomes very dry most years not last as it never stopped raining here so maybe it enjoyed the extra moisture.
Sheila there are five all different from seed flowering in the garden, this one I would estimate is a third larger than any of the others it is also the oldest by several years.
The gentleman the seed came from had the original Suffruticosa 'The Rock' and close by a large flowered pink flowered one which the Bees and insects would have have been taking pollen from,One of the seedlings is all pink but not that large it is just showing colour so you will see it in the next week.

WOW! WOW!! What a "ginormous" flower!!! And I thought my Amaryllis - at 8" across were enormous! Now they look like Lilliputians alongside this one!

Well done! Now looking forward to seeing photos of the pink one. The story behind the tree is very interesting, too!
