That's serendipity! Isn't it an unusual one?

I don't have any Beth Chatto books, and I think it's time I did!

I have The Green Tapestry and Woodland Garden. The woodland one is so well written by Beth and the photographs are great.

Janey, some have great leaf pattern, I associate them with spring as early flowering, yeah they get scruffy but I keep them like you.
Stera, yes unusual, I don't have it, Siris does, posted the extract to show her how it got its name.

I used to cut mine back in the summer and they grew back into a beautiful neat mound.

Thank you for the info, Dawn. I am hoping it doesn't suffer from mildew, like my others, when the ground dries out too much.

Is that what causes mildew Siris? I must say, mine in the woodland look healthy, conditions again I guess.

The pulmonaria grows like a wild flower here, but it's the pretty pinky-purple with the dappled leaves..(sorry, can't remember it's hort. name) very short lived though... glorious for a week or two.. then you just have the pretty leaves.

And that's a very attractive pulmonaria a Dawn. I'm not too keen on them usually...probably because the old one I have doesn't do much each year and yet I still keep it!
This one is a lovely colour and love the variegated leaves too...
