The purple vulgaris is just starting to flower, the red is going to be slower.

It is in the border, but is in danger of being swamped by the Oxalis (on the left). I'll have to watch that!

I've just bought the white one, I think I will mix a bit of grit in the soil when planting.

Indeed Dawn, especially as I dug a couple from Mum's garden and our soil was similar.

I don't know alot about their requirements. I remember my dad collecting seed and growing easily but they never seemed long lived and Dad was a very good gardener.

I think they like well drained soil, Chalky even.

A few years ago somebody suggested I grow them in pots, never got around to it though!
