I love all your Fuchsias Hywel, they are lovely flowers. The ones you have photographed look healthy enough. Sorry to hear about the capsid bug problem.

I'm having a very bad year with my Fuchsias! 😞 The golden one my son bought me for my birthday back in May this year has died. 😞 I planted it in the long white trough on the balcony floor directly in front of the balcony door so I could see it all the time. Unfortunately so many weeks of such strong, intense sunlight & such high temps (into the 30s here!) the plant dried up. 😞

The standard Fuchsias given to me last year by my friend Dick from church have all died. He gave me another one in June but it has lost all its flowers & I thought I was going to lose it as well but since the weather has cooled down I have noticed a couple of more flowers growing at last. He also gave me another one, 'Patio Princess', but it is just about clinging onto life! I put it in the shadiest corner of the balcony but I'm not sure if it will continue for much longer. 😞

Sorry to hear about your Fuchsias Balcony. They don't really like hot dry conditions.

Thanks, Hywel. I already knew that from my years of gardening on a balcony in Spain. I certainly didn't expect us to have such extreme weather here in the UK!

I hope yours are doing better than mine.

They are struggling - too cold and then too hot and also a bad infestation of capsid bugs. Most haven't flowered at all and several have died completely. It's been the worst year I've ever known for them.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Hywel! 😞 But it has been a very trying year for us gardeners! But we always live in the hope that next year things will get better, don't we?
