This photo was taken a few weeks ago. This plant is growing in the ground under the huge Jacaranda tree. It flowers once a year in fall and the stem will die and new plants will grow from the base.

Thanks penny! :>))
This plant only has ever gotten water from the hose. lol!
I think my plant has deeper pink because it's in more sun or brighter light.

Great plant! We can only ever grow it as a house plant in the UK! 😞 It would look fantastic outside in our gardens though!

Balcony,
Thank you. Bromeliads are very easy to grow in semi-shade outside here. Most are tough, drought-tolerant hardy plants.

Isn't that something?

Dottydaisy2:
Yes, it's a very easy plant to grow outside here in San Diego. It just has to be grown in semi-shade or it will sun-burn.

Thanks! Bromeliads and Tillandsias are so easy to grow outside here. They need very little care.
My Tillandsia usneoides (Spanish Moss) is growing like crazy this winter because of all the rain.

A stunner Andy a deeper pink than mine. Do you water when it flowers in the funnel still it says not to use tap water but distilled water here.
