Sheila I bought it thinking I could put it near to where I removed the tree, however when I read up on it later, I discovered that they are prone to throwing up suckers, obviously I don't want that so I've placed it in a huge pot, according to RHS it will be just as happy in a pot....

Sue, I have had one of these pretty shrubs planted in a raised bed since Oct. 2016 and keep looking for suckers, so far none in sight, phew!

I am so envious,Sue..mine was a gift cutting,and has been doing really well over the past three years,in a tub similar size to yours, for the same reason..suckering...until now,which I thought seemed strange that no leaves were unfurling by now..so had a little tug,and it came away in my hand .:o( dead as a Dodo !..

I really like it Shirley and M'land, hopefully mine won't send up suckers either...
Sandra that is such a shame, do you think its roots have been eaten by the dreaded beetles, I go around tugging at my plants that are in the pots...

Mine seems happy in a pot, and no suckers so far.

Have just bought one so the above comments are helpful in dealing with it next.

Thanks Sue,I haven't checked the pot yet,but I did wonder about nasties...I looked it up on the RHS website,and apparently ,it states no known pests or diseases..happy in most soils,so I can't think why it died,unless it has been too dry over winter? possibly..!:o( x
