Acer palmatum ‘Butterfly’ (Acer palmatum (Japanese maple))

Pretty little buy from Asda for £3! (pot was already in the garden).upright deciduous shrub or small tree, pretty variegated foliage. Irregularly margined with silvery white and light touches of pink on the leaf edges in springtime.

Thanks Julia! That’s a really nice comment you’ve posted!
I do hope it thrives, I may have to repot or plant it in the ground...I shall see. x

Bargain Kate! Well spotted. I am missing browsing about. Scott does all our shopping at the moment.

Lovely one Kate 🙂. I put pebbles in my pots too - they deter the squirrels!

Butterfly is nice variegated Acer. I bought all my Acers as young plants in small pots too. My 'Phoenix' from Morrisons was £3 too I believe and my Butterfly, Little Princess, Orange Dream and Atropurpureum were in a mixed tray bought from the flower market cheap in 4 inch pots.

An absolute bargain.......

Yes Paul, there are bargains to be had at the supermarkets while the garden centres are closed!
Thanks Karen, Chris and Thrup, it was just there to be had! It’s difficult for many at the moment with the social distancing and isolation. I’m quite fortunate.
Nice one Sheila! I often put pebbles and gravel in posts too, although often the blackies tend to root around!
Thorneyside, I love to find bargain buys, sounds like you definitely picked up a lovely mixed tray of acers at a fab price! Lovely to see them come on I bet.
Thanks Amy and Dd. ;-)

Thank you Rose, I was chuffed with it! I bought this pot last summer from a local nursery. I had another flowering plant in it, but that has been transplanted to the rockery area.
