Viburnum 'Kilimanjaro'

So pretty ...

Me too, and I think it's now my favourite Viburnum, although I do love quite a few!

Is this the one that grows in tiers like a huge wedding cake?

No Chris - that’s Viburnum plicata mariesii which eventually gets enormous!

This is Viburnum plicatum tomentosum ‘Kilimanjaro’ ...just to give it its formal name, and yes Sheila, I do have it and it will be in full bloom soon. It grows to a max of 2.5 to 4metres (quite a range depending on climate and soil I guess) according to the RHS. Its common name is Japanese Snowball Tree Sheila, so you are showing your love of Japanese style again! (Me too). I have it planted in my back garden, quite near the house, as part of my ongoing effort to have a small woodland on my doorstep without destroying my house!

Thanks very much Karen ... really interesting. I had read somewhere that it’s a “compact” shrub, so will need to do my best to keep it that way!

I suppose compared to many shrubs it is compact Sheila...but that’s annoying if it gets too big for its position. Mind you, it is pretty light and airy in nature, so will probably be totally lovely at 3m!

We’ll see Karen ... I suspect I’ll cope 🙂.
