Butterfly on Petunia

Fairly sure it's a Small Tortoiseshell.

He/she shows up well against the Petunias.

Its a pretty picture ,I wouldn't want to do it as a jigsaw 😒

Like you I've tortoiseshells in my garden right now. The Peacocks and Admirals are nowhere to be seen...

Thanks Janey. Yes I love them in spite of the fact that they looked pink in the catalogue! There do seem to be fewer butterflies around this year - I wonder why 😕

To be honest Sheila, I've had lots in my garden, the peacocks and admirals earlier and now the tortoiseshells, and a little holly blue..:)) so have been very lucky..

That’s lovely ... I’m happy for you 🙂 ! Come to think of it, there were some little blue ones in the spring, but not since.

I've had a nice patch of 5ft high nettles down the garden, they do like to lay their eggs on them!
