Nerine (Nerine)

My dark pink Nerine has finally opened despite a week of awfully miserable wet weather.

What a beautiful colour, Siris. I purchased some bulbs recently so fingers crossed.

Great - all those flowers from one bulb? These are such good value aren't they? My sister gave me some 15 years ago . I have them in a pot just outside the conservatory and every autumn without fail so far they have come up smiling. They should probably be repotted as its still the same compost. Is yours in a sheltered spot?

Lovely flowers. I have never been very successful at growing these.

Thanks everyone. Yorkslass, yes they are in the border sheltered close to the bungalow wall, facing south, either side of the front door.

Yes it is a joy to see them. I'm the same Linda, they don't grow for me..

I wouldn't say that they do that well for me, haven't increased at all, just marking time in the borders.

There's a bungalow I regularly walk by Siris and the front garden is absolutely full of nerines. They've been there for years and I've noticed during the year the bulbs are half out of the earth. They'll be well weathered all through winter and then warmed by summer sun. I wonder if this helps with the flower production..

That's interesting Janey. I think leaving them untouched is the secret, providing they are initially planted in a position to their liking.

We moved all of ours to the back garden....only a few have flowered unfortunately....love them.....

I think Dd, this is one you gave me.

I think you are right about them liking to have part of the bulb uncovered. Mine have been like that for years and it doesn't seem to have done them any harm.

It could be Siris......
