Woke to a covering of white snow which was soon melting in the morning sunshine.

We have a long hedge down the side being a corner house and the hedge is a mixture of holly and pyracantha, but because it is quite high, which I love, the chap who comes to cut it back slightly seems to take all the berries off !

Thank you Julia! Owen's Holly sounds lovely! Nature at its best then!
If you lived nearer, I would have definitely given you several twigs!! 😊

Rose, the hedge sounds just beautiful! I do love a good hedge! Especially a lush one like you've mentioned. Such a shame the chap prunes it harshly.
OH's mums gardener is a bit like that when it comes to pruning and trimming!!! Plus seems to leave a lot of mess behind!!!

very festive looking Kate.
I was in Sunderland for the last 3 days and we woke up to snow too. It was so cold even some of the sea spray was frozen on the upper promenades.

Crikey! That must have been amazing to see! Pretty cold up there then.
We have enjoyed many short breaks in beautiful Northumberland.

I think it is more of the fact Kate, that when the hedge is pruned, the berries haven't formed, but it really has to be done in the autumn!
We do get the occasional berry! The first year we came here, it was full of colour as we hadn't touched it!

Thanks Rose, that is good advice to be honest.
