Like the gentle colours Linda.
Yes, my garden too has seen the Hummingbird Hawk Moth over the last couple of weeks. Today a host of dragonflies, which I was so pleased to see,but could I capture one one my phone, not a chance!

I love to see the Dragonflies Janey, they are so colourful and go back in time a very long way....

We had 7 dragonflies hawking over the garden yesterday and Victoria spent over 30 mins trying to net one so we could id it. Not a chance, but it gave us a good laugh.
They were fresh ones so probably emerged from either our pond or neighbouring ones. I am under instructions to look for their exuvia [old skin they have emerged from] as you can identify the species from that.
so far not found any.

If they are the large ones I think they are from the Hawker species. Usually black and yellow stripes. The damselflies are smaller usually red or blue and damoiselle dragonflies have a large black spot on each wing. Hope that helps a bit.
