So nice to get things done when it isn't a gardening day!

Can't have too many bookshelves! How long before they are full?

Mmm well they have to be kept in several different rooms 🙂.

Amazing how you can never have enough shelves.. We have adopted a 'one in, one out policy'!!

It is amazing isn’t it Ange? That’s very sensible of you … an idea which my OH would very much like me to adopt!

Well, Sheila and Klahanie, I learnt a hard lesson. When my daughter was with us and from a young age, we kept all her juvenile books in the loft, thinking they would 'come in'. When we brought them down some few years later they were so desiccated that I had to put them in the skip. Now I keep only what I want for reference and very few fiction titles. The young hardly understand why we even do that as they have all their reading material on a Kindle! Mind you, I am doing the same clearout in my house, too, at the moment. It fills some of my friends with horror! Each to their own.

Reading on a Kindle is great for some, but give me a real book any day. I’m currently loving “The Horse Whisperer” by Nicholas Evans … so well written!

I'm with you on that, Sheila. The Oxfam bookshop has profited well from us over the last few years. I'm reading the new Rose Tremain, 'Lily' at the moment. I'm enjoying it as it's mercifully short! Many of the novels i have read just lately seem to take their cue from JK Rowling and seem to think that their every word is sacrosanct to 500+ pages. What happened to good editing??

Thanks Ange, you’re so right. When discussing one of our latest reads in the book group, we have often said “what was the editor thinking?!”
Rose Tremain is very good isn’t she. 🙂.

Sheila, my hubby likes reading, but some books go down to the charity shop afterwards. He keeps his older books (paperbacks). and we have a selection of gardening, wildlife, and practical books....
By the way, I have a few of my children's stories on Kindle.
Good to have a good bookshelf though.

Linda … do you want to tell us what name you write under? Then we could read your children’s stories ..

27 Sep, 2022

Sheila, if you look for Linda Knight you should find them. Let me know...and what you think...thanks. x
