Lovey to see this Saffron Crocus, Amy! 👍 Did you know that the town of Saffron Walden was so named because of the enormous amount of this Crocus they used to grow there? The town changed its name to Saffron because they produced the finest Saffron in the whole world - a couple of centuries ago! 👍
If I remember correctly there is a town here in the south of the UK where they have started growing them by the acre once again!
What we learn on the Internet!!! 😂

Thanks all , yes David I have been to Saffron Walden , You're right I'm not sure if it's the same person you mention but we spoke to a lady at a food fair last year she had food items which included Saffron ,she told us she was growing Saffron on a large scale making it a business .

We used to think they could only be grown in the Mediterranean countries! But it seems the best was grown here in Ol' Blighty! 😀
In the article I read I think it was a man in the South West somewhere who had decided to make a business of them once again.
I know that they grow a lot of them in Spain. The Saffron is used to colour & give taste to Paella rice especially. They used to sell the stamens in tiny little glass jars that cost you nearly a week's wages!
