This is a very rare variety from a specialty nursery in Florida. It’s one of two plants from a cutting from my friend’s very large vine which covers a wall. Photo taken Oct. 25, 2022.

Gorgeous colour. Reminds me of my Spanish garden a few years ago, bougainvilla flourished well there too..

Thanks everyone! Bougainvillea is very common and grows up to more than 60 ft (18 M) tall on palms here. There’s probably 12 or so common varieties (this includes the varieties that have variegated leaves) .

That’s beautiful Delonix. I used to have one in my greenhouse, but couldn’t keep it going for much more than a year. Would love to try again though … yours is an inspiration!

Sheilabub,
Thanks! It’s pretty easy to keep in a pot. My old ‘Orange King’ Bougainvillea has been in a pot since 1988. It’s still going hanging out on my back porch. In the ground they grow too big, too fast and have lots of thorns.

Very special to have this, Andy, as it’s rare. It’s such a beautiful colour too, very vivid. I hope it flourishes for you.
