Canopied golden green juniper

Canopied golden green juniper (Juniperus chinensis (Chinese Juniper))

OH's Dad bought us this juniper so many years ago, in Devon. (Mum and Dad were visiting OH's older sister in Devon.) OH's Dad sadly passed away 14 years ago..
It was such a small potted shrub at first, now it's quite a substantial size.
I canopied it many years ago in order to underplant. Eve likes to sit a night underneath and try to catch sight of a roosting wren! She's frustrated every night, bless her!

Good idea to canopy it...Eve knows a safe hiding place.

Thanks, Julia. I’ve a few ferns, a yucca, a sedum, a pine etc underneath..
Yes, Eve does feel quite safe under there next to the ivy hedge. She thinks she’s incognito from other cats too!

I am glad she didn't catch the wren Kate!

Me too, but, she is quite a lazy cat, Rose! 😁

Maudie has turned into quite a chubby winter chunk recently but she still likes chasing the pigeons - seems to be the only real exercise she gets at the moment. She would have sympathy with your Eve!

Have to say, Ange, Eve is carrying a little 'timber' too, as per my friend comments about her dog!
She likes to run around at night in the back garden, chasing moths and invisible things! πŸ™„
I try to play ball with her (as in very tiny ball) up and down the stairs...I think I do more running up and down with her observing me in a smug manner.

I did the aerobic exercises up and down the stairs with a feather fishing line when I was first trying to get the girls to play together (I'm really far too old and staid for that sort of thing..) I got some very quizzical looks, too. Now they chase each other up and down the stairs and through their play tunnel in the evenings so I have recovered a little of my dignity, Kate.

I wish Maudie lived nearer Ange...the pigeons here certainly need chasing. We were thrilled to see long tailed tits on our Cercis tree today....our garden is rather devoid of birds ....Owen has such plentiful feeders they have decided to desert us.

Oh, she would happily oblige, Meadow.
Long tails are my favourites, such dainty , delightful little birds. But all their affection - as with most animals - is cupboard love!!

Ange, I did have a little chuckle! Sometimes, we run around trying to encourage them to play or get some exercise...they look at us like we're really quite mad!!!
I'm glad to hear you've rescued your dignity! 😁

We have long tails visiting, fleetingly, sadly. Usually, late spring. Such lovely birds too.

It's a very lovely one Kate..

Kate, I did smile at the comments about playing ball with Evie as somebody on Freecycle is asking for ping pong balls, a favourite plaything of her indoor cats!!

I’m pleased it made you smile, Shirley! Eve has a few ping pong balls..she loves the way they spring bounce. However, she loves watching me chase them more πŸ˜‚

What else?

See who else is growing Juniperus chinensis (Chinese Juniper).

See who else has plants in genus Juniperus.
