I bought this as Calathea "Hilo beauty" That is what the tag on the pot says. Everybody on the internet calls it Alocasia 'Hilo Beauty'
Then I read:
This species has been misidentified by the horticultural trade as Alocasia 'Hilo Beauty'. The correct name should be Caladium praetermissum.
There you go.

It is a challenge to keep up with the names Ange. I think it really does not matter as long as we enjoy the plant but I do like to know the proper name (even if I cannot pronounce it correctly.)

It's hard to keep up with the botanists! I thought all prayer plants were marantas, then discovered they are calatheas (but others are still marantas), now they're all goeppertias - I think.. At least I could spell maranta!
Your alocasia/caladium is a Beauty whatever they call it. Good luck with it, Klahanie.
