My first attempt at acrylics after quite a few years break from painting.

My first attempt at acrylics after quite a few years break from painting.

I started off by getting ideas from the gardens in Willow Cottage looking at all my photos, then chose a small part of a border.
After a while, I decided to make my own garden with different plants. I did enjoy doing this , but hopefully will improve as I get back into it!

Wow, I like this Rose! It's beautiful, the colours you've chosen and the vivid green in the centre. So full of life and energy, really lovely..:)

Thanks Julia! I did find it difficult as you can't wash it out if you have made a mistake.
I am not sure if I will change back to water colours! It definitely was a challenge.
I did enjoy doing it though as I didn't know which flowers I was going to put on as I was doing it!
Thanks Paulmaria!
Thanks Chris! As you know, I wasn't sure about it but was pleased with the end result. At least it stopped me getting fed up of not being able to work in the garden!
Thank you Janey! I didn't know how it was going to turn out! Bit like doing a jigsaw! lol

Love your colours, Rose! Think Julia nailed it, contemporary art.
It's a vivid and cheerful interpretation.
Well done!

Thanks Sandra! I will be doing another one while the weather is so awful, but probably water colours this time. xx

Well-painted Rose and the arrangement of the flowers is good. Acrylics are not easy to paint with, as I've tried them myself, and I much prefer watercolours. Keep going and the ideas will flood in.

Thanks Linda, but may go back to water colours.

I used to paint in oils and loved that medium, but I had an extra space to do that in as it takes a while for the paint to dry. You can slosh that around and mix the colours on the board, and paint thick or thin layers on to the canvas.

I have never tried that Linda! I have the space but not confident to do that!
