Cowslips

Sheila, they are lovely. I can see why you like them! Do you remember a GoY chap called Bampy? Years ago he sent me some of these, I had them for a couple of years, then, kaput, never to be seen again ... :o(

We're lucky, they're like weeds in our borders. Many are hybridised and all are offspring from half a dozen plants we brought with us.

Mine have just come into flower.

These are lovely flowers, Shelia! In the village where our daughter & gkids live there is one house in particular that has a great big lawn out front which has 100s of Cowslips in it every year. When they start to cut the grass they leave it where the Cowslips are until they have finished flowering!

Thanks Balc, I can imagine that … we had a lawn full of them in our previous garden, so I’m hoping these will spread.

Shirley what a memory you have! Yes, now I do remember Bampy … he was fun. Quite sad that he left. If you would like some seed, I will try to collect some …

They’re lovely. I know of a big field that is covered with Cowslips where rabbits nibble down the leaves really short, yet they still flower ok, just on short stems, they must not like the flowers as they are not eaten.
