Thank you all for your comments! 😃 I don't know either why they continue to grow for me either! It's a mystery! They spent 90% of their time in the small kitchen window that faces WNW. The sun enters into that window only in the period between the 2 equinoxes; March 21st & September 21st, the other 6 months not a single sunbeam reaches that window. Neither does it get any heating that the sun doesn't provide! The window is double glazed so they don't get affected by the heavy frosts - like we had in December 2022 & January 2023. I water them when I remember, which at this time of year is once a week with the same fertilizer I am using on the balcony at that time & the same strength, though it's recommended to use half the recommended dose on the bottle. With all the above they have managed to survive with me & flower for a number of years! In fact they only come out of the window while they are in flower & go straight back when they have finished.

Lovely to see your orchids doing so well Balcony. I have a pink one that has been flowering since the springtime. I put it into a jug of room-temperature rainwater to soak for a while then let it drain and put it back into its pot for a few weeks or until it feels light, and then I repeat the process, sometimes giving it some orchid feed. When the flowers have finished I cut it back to the next notch in the stem.

I always cut back the scape to the base. The 2 white ones are flowering very well. 👏 If you remember my blog of some months ago I repotted them both as well as a yellow one that was practically dead. It's still alive which is something! 👏 I had to cut off all the roots & dust the cuts with Cinnamon powder. I haven't seen any signs of new growth but at least it's still alive so there is hope yet that it will regrow.

Let's hope it grows well for you Balcony. They are so beautiful when they flower. My Orchid has lots of long aerial roots.

It seems this is quite common as it's their way of anchoring themselves to tree branches. Mine also produce these ariel roots but some of them I've noticed find themselves into the compost. Anyway I'm happy at the 2 that are flowering & also that the yellow one, though not flowering & very unlikely to do so this year, is still alive after the treatment I gave it! Just goes to show that Orchids are very tough plants in spite of their apparent fragility!
