20 snails snacking last night on this Dahlia

Kate, that's such a shame. This year I put coffee grounds, from the local coffee shop, as a 'mulch' on the potted Hostas and, so far, not a nibbled leaf. Maybe give it a try on this lovely Dahlia. I hope you feel better soon ... :o)

Thanks for your kind thoughts, I'm feeling pretty rough. Sore throat, headache and aches..Eve is by my side, bless her. She's a good little nurse! 😻

We always lose our dahlias to slugs and snails and this year is no exception!! I must try coffee grounds as Shirley suggested.

How ghastly Kate. Sorry you’re feeling rough, it’s astonishing how debilitating a sore throat can be. Glad you have Eve to comfort you and hope you’ll be better soon.

I'm really sorry you're feeling off colour and hope a feline snuggle is helping out! I stood and stared hopelessly at my new lupin being chomped by a ginormous slug in the rain (again) this morning. They are everywhere, even have the cheek to slither up the paths in front of me! Today I can't work up the enthusiasm to care..

Hope you are feeling better soon Kate. Yes, the snails and slugs were out on patrol over the last couple of nights. Our Hedgehogs have been keeping most of them down, but I think the little beasties have come out to party......

Much better now, albeit tired, but, being back a work tires you quicker.
It seems like OH's idea/research into keeping slimy pests away is working! Ashes from the chiminea! No sign or sight in the past week! Just hope it is a long term solution 🤞

That's good news re. the ashes ... my Hostas have been nibbled so I guess the slugs and snails have got used to the coffee now ... :o((
