Impatiens niamniamensis

Strange, the flowers are growing out of the main stem but there are hardly any leaves. They are all on the top of the stem.

I was given one of these years ago Hywel and was told it was called the Parrot plant.
I kept it a few years and then lost it.

Yes, a horrible name isn't it ...

Nice bright little flowers.

I love this plant! I have several. They bloom all year outside here. It tolerates a lot more very hot, intense San Diego sun than most Impatiens.

Thank you all :)

I've got several of these Delonix, they seem to tollerate being hot and dry and can also live quite happily outside in our Welsh rain :)

Yes, they’re a very tough plant considering their tropical origin.

That's why they enjoy our Welsh summer rain and our Welsh summer sunshine :)

You’re very lucky you receive rain during summer. Here in dry, hot San Diego we don’t receive any rain for typically 7 to 8 months.

I couldn't cope with that, I enjoy a rainy day :)

Me too. We were lucky this year when Tropical Storm Hilary hit San Diego. We received 3 1/2 inches of rain in one day. It was great!

I'm glad to know you enjoyed the rain. Most people here moan about it.

Yes, we need every drop of rain here in dry, sunny San Diego, California.

Pity I couldn't send you some, we get more than we need.
Mind you sometimes in the summer we get a hot dry spell and the reservoirs can become quite low.

We definitely can use the rain. It’s been so warm and dry here for the last 6 weeks, and 75 to 80 degrees forecasted for the next week or so.

I hope you get some soon :)

We should get some good rains starting the middle of next week. It’s been warm and very sunny here the last 5 days, high temps 78 to 82 degrees (26 to 28 c)
