Happy squirrel

Caught on our Trail camera. They are stealing our apples.

He should be well set up for winter! The grey squirrels in the UK divide opinion as they are an introduced species and are out performing our native reds (which are smaller) and have taken over much of their territory. The reds are pushed into a few enclaves which is a shame. But I expect you know this, Klahanie :)

Smashing capture too. As Ange said, he’s ready for winter!!! It’s such a pity the greys are outnumbering our reds - it’s definitely a bone of contention here. I would hate to see our reds almost eradicated.

I love to see the squirrels. The greys carry a virus that is no good for the red squirrels. When I lived on the I.O.Wight, they only had red squirrels there and they're so cute. There are grey squirrels around here and we had a visitor some years ago in the garden. He went around burying peanuts that I'd put out for the birds, in all my pots. I videoed him and put it on youtube with a running commentary.

It's a wonder they don't have denture problems carrying something as heavy and big around. LOL.

A very good video of the squirrel, Linda! 😃

I used to see red squirrels where we lived in Spain but I've never see one here in the UK.I've seen lots of grey ones & some black ones. I don't think they have ever been near our balcony though.

My wife & I were in St James' Park, London last Tuesday & we saw some grey squirrels that didn't run away - they run towards you!!! In fact I went onto the grass to take some photos of some 'Peruvian Lilies' when I felt something on my foot. I looked down only to see a squirrel running away! 😃

How lovely to have some apples like that Klahanie. We have a small rootstock Cobra, which is a bramley - cox mix, a cooker-eating apple that is very tasty. Two espalier apple trees, one being a very large cooking apple called Howgate Wonder, and the other an eating apple called James Greave.
Glad you enjoyed the video Balcony and Klahanie.
