Century plant (Agave Americana)

This is a pup of my larger Agave which I bought from a neighbour and it was destroyed by a rabbit ( I suspect).
Before it completely died it produced a tiny pup.
This plant flowers only ones and then it dies but produces shoots from the base, allowing its growth to continue. Although it is called the century plant, it typically lives for 10 to 30 years.
My original plant was young and not ready to bloom so the plant had to know that it is dying and sent out a little pup allowing its continuation .....and here it is about year later. Nature is smart.

It looks nice and healthy Klahanie. With a bit of love it will do well.

The little "pup" is looking healthy, Klahanie. I had one years ago, it produced a very tall, slim stalk with flower on top. I'm surrounded it looks the same. Attractive addition to the garden.
You must be pleased with this one.
