This is one of two ~ 7 ft (2.2 m) tall Jade plants flowering in San Diego by an apartment building. Jade plants grow wild in big stands on the sides of the mesas here in San Diego, CA. They’re all in full bloom right now. Photo taken on January 6, 2023.

Huge! I saw one that tall in Oakland..but it was nowhere near as wide and full. Most peak at 5' around the SF bay with oldest and in best frost free climates might reach 6'. That 7' footer was the ultimate for here.

Stan,
The largest jade plant I ever saw was in Newark, close to you. It was probably 11 ft tall, it was taller than the eave of the house. It was wider than this posted jade, also. I wish I had a digital camera way back in the mid-80’s! My aunt had one in Hayward that was approximately 10 tall. It was a monster! I know there’s pics of this one somewhere, because people were amazed how large it grow within 12 years.

My brother once lived in Newark,it's windy there and I guess that keeps off the frost.
I think the bay area might have more jade plants per acre-ha. They are everywhere. My last trip to socal years ago I don't recall seeing them in every yard or pot like here. I even have a big one that fell over and I could not get it to stand up..so on its side it grows. FAT trunked too.

WOW! I have a couple of small cutting from Hywel but - even if I managed to keep them alive for a few years - they will never, ever get beyond a couple of feet at the outside! I doubt they will ever flower & this is the first time I've seen such an enormous specimen - & in flower!

It’s definitely a popular plant in the SF Bay Area. But, there’s definitely a lot more here in San Diego. They grow wild in huge stands on the sides of the mesas here. They’re not too noticeable until they flower.

Jade plants can get considerably larger. This is a nice specimen, though. Unfortunately, it’s not the best pic, because the sun was going down.
