"I'm not buying anything to put in pots this year..."

Famous last words!

Most of my plants are in the ground Ange and don't have many pots as my neighbour waters for me when I am away and seems a bit cheeky to expect her to water all my pots.

I never use my common sense, Rose!

Thanks for giving me a laugh! Great choices Ange, but it's hopeless making resolutions ... there are far too many gorgeous plants that we can't find room for in the borders :)

Can't wait to see them come summer. You've a fabulous selection there Ange. I do fancy Lily regale, but not the red beetles!

😆
I'm loving those hot colours, Ange!! It's making me feel all summery..I do hope we have a lovely summer...
I've just put some pots in a skip we had over the weekend! I'm pretty sure my 'free spaces' won't be free in the summer!

Klahanie, I was forced to throw all my cannas last year as they all had the virus. I hope these will be different because they are from a different supplier but I suspect they all come from the same original source. We shall see.
I have ordered 3 others from a specialist. Most of the ones shown here are short ones for pots.

I'm a lost cause, Sheila. If these lilies succumb to beetles and the dahlias are uninspiring like last years', and the cannas are virussed again then that will definitely be my lot!!

I'm thinking if these are infested, Janey, they will be the last lot I buy.

You're right, Kate, we do have an irresistible urge to fill any space in the garden, don't we? Yes, the colours are a bit bright. OH chose the dahlias, and cannas mostly seem to come in screaming colours, so there we go! I think I am turning into my Mother: we used to laugh that she always chose the most vibrant hues and had a little garden of extremely bright, clashing coloured flowers...

Lovely selection there Ange. Hope they do really well for you. I've just found vine weevil larva in my pots, so have taken out the compost and replanted with new plants but we've put powder killer on the pots to try to make doubly sure they don't survive if there are any around.

Oh, vine weevils are a real nuisance here, Linda. Left behind by the 'municipal planting' of the builders' contractors. We have to apply nematodes twice a season to slow them down, but can't defeat them because they are all through the shrubs and hedges around us.

Looks like a losing battle then Ange. We haven't seen the vine weevils for several years and suddenly (like Swartzneggar!) they're back!!!
