Thanks Janey ... these are taller than I was expecting!

Very pretty and strong colouring, Shirley. My mum often grew these, she doesn't seem to do so nowadays.

Thanks Kate, I did grow some a few years ago but they were a much shorter variety than these. Dare I say it... the slugs seem to ignore them! Tell your Mum to sow some seeds ... :o)

Lovely! I shall guide her in the right direction, I think :-))
Thank heavens the slugs are avoiding yours, fingers crossed 🤞

I used to grow them years ago. Maybe I should try again next year.

Kate, they grow very easily from seed too.
Go for it, Rose!

I sowed many, they all germinated, so there are pots of them all around the garden now.

Lovely flowers, Shirley! My wife likes these a lot & some years I have bought seeds & sown them on the balcony.

That's kind of you ... no doubt your wife appreciated that!

Yes, she did! Over the years I've put plants on the balcony that she likes. She has tried a few times over the last 24 years to grow some seeds but she has never had much luck! 😆 I've always had to take over them! 😆
Last year our son took us to a supermarket that had a special week dedicated to Spanish products. His daughter (10) came with us & in the entrance to the supermarket there was a stand with lots of packets of seeds. My granddaughter asked if she could get a packet or two. So I suggested she get a packet of Carnation seeds for Nanny. She got a packet of Cosmos at the same time! She did ask for permission to put them in the trolley! 😆
When we got home we unloaded what we had bought & found the Carnation seeds but not the Cosmos seeds! We couldn't find them anywhere so we thought they must have fallen out in the supermarket & forgot about them! Some time later I was getting something from the freezer & I found the packet of Cosmos seeds stuck to the packet! They had spent a couple of weeks in the freezer! 😆
As it wasn't time to sow them I just put them on a shelf & forgot about them again! By the time I sowed them on top of the birthday card with seeds incorporated in it it must have June!
The Carnation seeds grew OK & I've now planted them in the troughs & pots on the balcony railings. Some are now flowering but instead of being the familiar double Carnations we all know & love they have turned out to be single flowers!

You seem to have the green fingers Balcony. It is nice that your granddaughter wants to buy seeds. My two boys would never have even thought of it when they were young!

One of our two sons, like his sister, have discovered a penchant for gardening since they moved back to the UK from Spain. Our other son who still lives in Spain & who we saw last week for the first time in 5 years, says he wouldn't have the patience to grow plants like his brother or sister - or his dad!
The youngest son has lived here, near us, for about 10 years now, was always plating orange &lemon seeds in my pots of plants before we went back to Spain when he was just 5 years old! I don't remember him doing the same in Spain though I grew more plants than ever in our flat over there!

David, I have cut some of these Godetia for a vase indoors, along with Hydrangea, Crocosmia and Alstroemeria and am hoping they last a few days in water.

As I never cut any for indoors I can't tell you if they will last long or not!

They are really pretty Shirley. I used to grow them in a half barrel when I was first married, and they always put on a great show.
