I am going to empty out the pots of Hostas, check for slugs/slug eggs then place a circle of mesh in the flower pot hole. It remains to be seen if this will deter the critters!

Adam Frost was using them, so if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me ... :o))

I'm keeping everything crossed for you 🤞
Despite a hedgehog and a frog..we still have the nasties munching their way round our garden :-(

Kate, that's really surprising. You need to have a word with the hedgehog and frog !!!

I've seen lots of snails & slugs on the balcony during the years we have lived here but they seem to cause little trouble. Though the snails in particular are partial to a few juicy Amaryllis leaves! 🤣
I haven't seen any snails this year on the balcony but I have seen more slugs than never before. Again they don't seem to do much damage, probably because most of my plants are not to their taste! 🤣
Hope this works out for you, Shirley.

David, apologies for my late reply. Just returned from a few days away so catching up on here now. I really do hope this mesh stops them from living in the pots of Hostas.

No worries, Shirley! I hope it gives you the desired results.
