The backs of the flowers are prettier than their faces - they have mauve sepals and it's a favourite colour of mine.

I’m so glad you are a fan of the “swans” too Hywel. I have the A, ruffled swan, A. Dreaming swan, as well as the first in the series, Wild Swan. All bred by Elizabeth McGregor in Scotland. There’s an article today in the press about Japanese anemones and I was surprised that these … all with gorgeous mauve backs , weren’t mentioned.

I do like these Hywel, by it's name it must be small and it's very pretty.
In the background are those Clems still in flower? It is a pretty photo..:)

It's in a pot Janey, I haven't put it in the ground incase it spreads too much - I don't trust them :D
Yes there is a Clematis on the trellis in the background, it's called Minuet.
The blue and white flowers are Lobelias in a basket.

I can understand Hywel. I've always wanted a Japanese anemone here, never thought of keeping it in a pot! Why I've no idea??
It's nice to see you've still colour in your garden..:)

The only Japanese anemone I've got in the ground is a dwarf one. It stays in one clump. I have several larger varieties in pots, and when they're not flowering I can put them out of sight .

In my experience the “swans” don’t spread like the more ordinary Japanese anemones … :)

Thanks Sheila, I didn't realize that, but I'll still keep it in the pot - I don't think I could find room in the garden now :D

I do like these, Hywel. Bizarrely, I’ve struggled to grow them, twice!
