Beautiful rose Shirley_tulip. Do you have a warm weather now?

6 Dec, 2024

Wow, I agree with Klahanie, Shirley . Such a brilliant colour..

6 Dec, 2024

Klahanie, not very warm with a weekend forecast of strong winds and heavy rain. The South west of England and Wales look set to bear the brunt of it.

Thanks Janey, lovely surprise to see it opening today.

Beautiful colour.

Thanks Bernie, sad to say that it's getting blown around today in these strong winds.

7 Dec, 2024

Hopefully it will survive the winds.

Bernie, the Rose is fine but a pot with a Camelia in it blew over, no damage, just the top dressing of grit all over the patio. Across from us we can see a TV aerial has fallen on to a house roof and some polycarbonate roofing on a car port is hanging on, bouncing up and down. Hopefully this gale force wind will lessen by early evening if the forecast is to be believed.

Good to hear your beautiful Rose is okay and there hasn't been too much damage. Now, fingers crossed that the roofing across the road stays in place until the winds die down.

Bernie, since my earlier comment an hour ago, a lot of the polycarb. roofing has blown into our garden! The wind speed is set to reduce by 17.00 this evening, I really hope it does.

Oh, no! Will your neighbour be the one to pick it all up? Has it caused any damage?

8 Dec, 2024

My OH has popped round to inform them and we'll see what happens ... no damage to us but their car port isn't much use now ... :o(

Current wind speed is 48mph, expected to drop to 22 later.

I would think it's their job to clean up so fingers crossed they're over once the wind drops.

Bernie, I'm pleased to report the folk across the way, behind our garden, have cleared up but now need to either repair their car port roof or go without it. Great shame the storm did so much damage ... :o(

Good news on the clear up front! I'm so glad to hear they've stepped up and done the right thing.

Having had so much experience with cyclones here, I can relate totally to the pain involved in dealing with the damage and destruction that results.

12 Dec, 2024

Bernie, hopefully we'll never have cyclones here in Great Britain!

14 Dec, 2024

I hope so too Shirley! Although I know areas in the northern hemisphere experience typhoons and hurricanes, which are similar.
