The largest maple in Canada, the "Bigleaf maple", grows only in the southwest corner of British Columbia (B.C.).
This one is growing on our property close to our house.

My goodness! I didn’t know there is such a big Acer. Incredible! It looks like a Giant. I wonder how old it is. What a beautiful shaped trunk….sorry, I’m enraptured. I love trees!

I have to admit that it was one of the reason why I loved this property.
Lots of people around here do not like this maple as it distributes lots of seeds which germinate easily. It is also fast growing so I have no idea how old is this one...but I still love it. Everyone who comes here comments on it.

A very special old tree and wonderful to see it. It must be able to tell some stories from the past if only it could speak.
I love old trees especially Oak trees and I go over and feel the bark on the trunk. Does the doll and the door mean anything significant?

Wow, what a responsibility Klahanie to have this massive Acer on your land. I was also wondering about the little door …
Have you ever grown one of its babies from the seed?

Thank you Linda and Sheila.
I am pulling out hundreds of seedlings from everywhere every year. I do not keep them.
The little fairy door just showing my silliness .
I have several porcelain ladies living in the bigleaf maple.
They all have a name. That happened long time ago but they still exist.

What a history for such a beautiful maple, it does look ancient. Sheltering your porcelain ladies makes it very special Klahanie. You must have posted photos of it's autumn colours over the years, how spectacular!

Janey, I appreciate your lovely comment.
It is wonderful to see in the fall (autumn) but also a good exercise to rake all the fallen leaves :-)
