This is an African Tulip Tree in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.
This is one of the smaller trees in Balboa Park, however, it is my
favorite African Tulip tree

Bernieh:
I know these trees are a pest in the true tropics...n Hawaii they have naturalized in many areas and are considered a pest tree now.
I have seen these trees naturalizing in some of our neighborhoods...however, it would not naturalize like in the wet tropics. We just don't receive enough rain.

I have one of these as well Delonix - another common tree here in Queensland, always so bright and colourful but it is considered a pest because it grows so prolifically in the bush now.
